Transformation & Joy

Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) restores the flow of energy and balances the organ systems. Our doctors and practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine can help you heal musculo-skeletal and systemic disease by first assessing your individual needs and then providing you with a blend of acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion and Tui Na massage. Additionally, herbal medicine may be prescribed.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of disposable pre-sterilized needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the flow of Qi. Acupuncture promotes the body's natural healing energy and improves functioning of the muscles and organs. Acupuncture treatments help the body's internal organs to correct imbalances in the digestion, absorption, and energy production activities and in the circulation of energy through the meridians.

Cupping

Glass or bamboo cups are suctioned to the body to draw out toxins and prevent blood and chi stagnation.

Tui Na Massage

Ancient Chinese Massage stimulates the flow of Qi releasing energy along the meridians.

Moxibustion

After the needles are inserted burning moxa is circled around the needles to send heat deep into the muscles.

Herbal Medicine

Ancient herbal medicine is prescribed to address an array of internal and systemic disorders such as digestive disorders, insomnia, fatigue, muscle cramps, menstrual problems, anxiety and depression.

Teresa Nieman, TCM.P/R.Ac
Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner / Registered Acupuncturist

Teresa pursued a career in Chinese medicine following a lifetime of playing sports and receiving treatments from many different modalities. As an athlete, she developed the intricate and powerful connection between wellness and elite performance. Through Oriental medicine she learned how to help the body heal, by treating it as a whole and getting to the root cause of the physical symptoms.

As a graduate form the University of Victoria, Teresa captained the varsity soccer team and completed her Bio-Psych degree in 2003.

Intrigued in the healing arts, she set out on an exploration of over 20 countries and returned back to the west coast to start her schooling at PCU College of Holistic Medicine in 2005. Teresa is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioner and registered acupuncturist, whose specializations include myofascial release of structural restrictions, Hara (Japanese palpation) for constitutional imbalances and constitutional facial rejuvenation which works on overall imbalances, as well as the face, to look and feel younger.
