Dr Amy Rein

Dr. Amy Rein, Ph.D. ( Registered Psychologist 01389)

Following her studies at the University of Waterloo, Rein started what she thought was going to be an exciting career in advertising.

After working for several years, Rein was disenchanted and decided to quit her job to search for life’s meaning and a more personally rewarding career. This led her to obtain her Masters and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. Rein is now a Registered Psychologist in BC and a Level II EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) practitioner. EMDR is a revolutionary new therapy for freeing the mind and body that incorporates a non-invasive approach to release disturbing memories, debilitating emotion, and restrictive beliefs.

Rein treats children, youth, adults, couples and families, and has worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, mental health centres, and private practice.

Using an integrative treatment approach that incorporates both traditional and holistic medicine, Rein’s successful form of therapy draws on a variety of techniques that includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, hypnotherapy, relaxation and stress reduction techniques, meditation and EMDR.

Dr. Skerritt

Originally from St. Kitts in the Caribbean, Skerritt had a unique upbringing. Living in a plantation house surrounded by the diverse flora and fauna of the island, Skerritt was brought up with two parents with pharmaceutical training. In addition to traditional Western medicine, Skerritt’s parents had a wide knowledge and interest in folk medicine that was brought to the island by the native South Americans and Africans.

Growing up and seeing first hand the healing powers of herbs peaked Skerritt’s interest in Chinese Medicine. After years of education in Chinese Medicine, Herbology, Shiatsu and Acupuncture from around the world including the US and the UK, Skerritt is just one of 241 Doctor’s of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Canada. One of Skerritt’s areas of specialty is addiction.

Prior to moving to Whistler, Sherritt set up and managed the Acupuncture for Addiction clinics in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. Skerritt also treated clients at the Vancouver Native Health Society.
